My name is Gregory John Rood and I was born and raised in Rochester, NY. I come from a large extended family, one that has not only encouraged me to pursue my dreams, but believes in my ability to do so. I was very lucky to have the upbringing I did and it helped shape me into the person I am today.
I’ve been a drummer since I was 8 years old and music has been a comforting constant my entire life. Music is what kept me interested and involved with school from an early age, and also lead to some of the most meaningful and long lasting freindships I have.
After my schooling at Greece Athena High, I moved on to SUNY Fredonia, where I studied Philosophy. My time in college was the most dynamic time of my entire life. I was balancing the yin and yang of the self defining experiances one has when they are living on their own for the first time, while also dealing with a tumultuous situation back home – mainly loved ones battling illness.
After college I volunteered to donate a portion of my liver to my mother. She had been sick with cirohsis for years, and it had gotten severe enough where this was the only option. You can read more about this experience and others under the essays tab at the top of the page.
The success of the transplant gave me this sort of freedom to pursue some lofty and left of center career paths. In September 2015 I moved from Rochester, NY to Nashville, TN to find my way in the the entertainment industry.
During my time in Nashville I have toured over a dozen cities in just as many states, dipped my toes into the wonderful world of podcasting, and have begun putting on live events around the city.
